Tax Deductions You Might Miss for YA2025

As the year comes to an end, many taxpayers start organizing their receipts and expenses — and often discover that several payments are actually eligible for tax deductions. Here are some commonly overlooked deductible items for YA2025:

  • Includes private tuition, learning centres, music, art, and coding classes
  • Deduction: Up to RM3,000
  • Note: Only valid for registered institutions; receipts must be kept
  • Includes job-related training, certification courses, and continuing education
  • Deduction: Up to RM1,000
  • Note: Courses must relate to your career or professional development; retain proof of payment
  •  Expenses for vaccinations approved by the Ministry of Health and recommended by a doctor are eligible for tax deduction.
  •  Deduction: RM1,000
  • Note: Receipts must be issued by a registered medical institution or pharmacy.
  •  Expenses for work-related travel (flights, accommodation, transportation, and meals) are deductible.
  •  Deduction: Based on actual expenses, must be related to income.
  • Note: Must be directly related to income or business, and keep all receipts and travel records; personal vacations are not claimable
  • Annual medical check-ups + doctor-recommended home health monitoring devices (blood pressure monitor, glucometer, oximeter, thermometer)
  • Deduction: Up to RM1,000
  • Note: Devices must be registered under the Medical Device Act 2012; keep all receipts
