BTR cash aid will be distributed in January
  • According to Prime Minister in Parliament, the phase one of BTR (Bantuan Tunai Rakyat) will be distributed in January. BTR cash aid will replace the previous BKM cash aid.

 

  • Eligible households will receive RM300 and the single recipients will receive RM100 in the first phase of BTR payment.
RM150 school aid will be distributed in January
  • According to Prime Minister in Parliament, all school students will receive RM 150 school aid in January. To reduce the financial burden of parents, all school students are eligible for school aid regardless of their parents’ income limit
Shopee will increase seller’s Marketplace Commission fee from 10 January
  • Shopee has announced that the seller’s Marketplace Commission fee will increase from 10 January 2023 onwards. The current rate of Marketplace Commission fee is 2.00%, and the latest rate is 2.50% – 4.00% (before 6% sst) based on product categories.

 

  • The revised rate only apply to Marketplace sellers with ≥ 100 completed orders. Sellers with less than 100 completed orders will not be charged the commission fee.
Application fees and annual fees for Touch ‘n Go Visa Prepaid Card are waived
  • Touch n Go’s planned to launch a Visa Prepaid Card, and open to individuals aged 18 years old and above. The application fees and annual fees for Touch ‘n Go Visa Prepaid Card are currently waived, buyer just need to pay a RM5.00 delivery fee.

 

  • The Visa Prepaid Card is linked to the TNG eWallet so users can utilise the balance within their eWallet.
Amendments to Employment Act 1955 will begin on 1 January
  • The Amendments to Employment Act 1955 will come into effect on the 1 January.

 

  • The key amendment
    • Protected workers who earn below RM4,000
    • Increase maternity leave from 60 days to 98 days
    • Seven days of paternity leave for working fathers
    • Maximum working hours shortened from 48 to 45
    • Calculation of wages for employee who works less than one month
    • Employers must display a notification about sexual harassment in workplace
    • Employees may apply for flexible working arrangements and the employer must approve or reject within 60 days
Academic Calendar 2023/2024 for primary and secondary schools
  • According to the Ministry of Education’s academic calendar 2023/2024 , the school session for the Academic Calendar 2023/2024 will start from 19 and 20 March, 2023 until 9 and 10 March 2024.
