- Service Tax:
8%: Leasing, and financial services
6%: Construction services, private healthcare (for non-Malaysians), and private education (with high tuition fees) - Sales Tax:
New 10% tax on: Road bicycles, antique paintings, and more
𝐉𝐏𝐉 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬
- Starting 1 July 2025, all drivers and passengers on long-distance and tour buses must wear seatbelts at all times.
- This regulation applies to buses manufactured from 2020 onwards. Older buses (produced before 2020) will be given a grace period to install seatbelts.
- Drivers are responsible for reminding passengers to buckle up. Failure to comply may result in a RM300 fine, with onboard CCTV footage used as enforcement evidence.
𝐓𝐍𝐁 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝
- Effective from 1 July 2025, residential electricity charges will be based on two different pricing structures depending on monthly consumption, directly impacting household bills.
- For monthly usage < 1,500 kWh, a lower energy rate of 27.03 sen/kWh applies, plus a capacity charge of 4.55 sen, network charge of 12.85 sen, and a fixed RM10 retail service fee.
- For monthly usage > 1,500 kWh, the energy rate increases to 37.03 sen/kWh, while other charges remain unchanged.
- Households consuming < 600 kWh monthly are exempted from the RM10 retail fee, and those consuming <1,000 kWh are eligible for Energy Efficiency Incentives.
𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐔𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝟑 𝐂𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐏𝐆
- The Cabinet has recently approved a temporary subsidy policy for small businesses using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
- Businesses using up to 3 cylinders of subsidised LPG (14kg each) will not be required to apply for special permits or licenses.
𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐲𝐆𝐎𝐕 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐩𝐩
- The government is launching MyGOV Malaysia, a new all-in-one mobile app for easy access to key public services anytime, anywhere.
- At launch, it will offer seven core services, including passport renewals, birth registration, road tax and license matters, medical appointments, summons payments, property tax, and STR applications. More features like welfare aid, exam results, and voter info will be added progressively.
- Integrated with MyDigital ID, the app enables secure single sign-on to 34+ government platforms, streamlining the user experience.
