Proton Old Car Trade-In Incentive

Proton has introduced an old-car trade-in incentive offering subsidies of up to RM4,000 for customers who scrap vehicles aged over 20 years and purchase selected new Proton models.
The incentive combines a government grant and Proton’s additional support, although lower incentives apply to entry-level models such as the Proton Saga and e.MAS 5.

RM100 One-Off SARA Assistance

A one-off RM100 Penghargaan SARA assistance will be credited to all citizens aged 18 and above on 9 February 2026, with no application required.
Phase 1 of STR 2026 assistance will begin on 20 January, supporting low- and middle-income groups.

JPJ Ends Physical Road Tax Stickers

From 1 February 2026, JPJ will stop printing physical road tax stickers for private vehicles.
Vehicle owners are encouraged to use digital road tax via MyJPJ; physical copies may be self-printed if needed.

Frequent Overseas Travel May Affect STR Eligibility

Eight or more overseas trips in a month may cause STR applications to be marked as “Not Approved.”
Applicants may appeal within the stipulated period if the assessment is inaccurate.

Physical Driving Licence: Fees & Exemptions

From 23 January 2026, proof of overseas travel is no longer required. RM20 printing fee for Malaysians, RM100 for foreigners.
Seniors (60+), A1/A licence holders, and registered OKU are exempt from printing fees. Digital licences via MyJPJ only require the annual renewal fee.
