Free MyKad Replacement for Chip Damage from 23 Sept 2025 to 7 Oct 2025
The National Registration Department (NRD) has announced that from 23 September to 7 October 2025, Malaysians may replace their MyKad free of charge if the chip is found to be damaged.
The department stressed that this offer only applies to cases of chip malfunction. Replacements due to loss, card damage, or changes in personal details will continue to incur the standard fees.
According to NRD, the measure aims to support the smooth rollout of public subsidy programs, including BUDI95, by minimizing disruptions caused by faulty chips.
The public is advised to verify the condition of their MyKad chip before visiting NRD counters to avoid unnecessary delays or repeated applications.
