24-Hour SOCSO Protection Scheme to Begin in June
The LINDUNG 24 JAM scheme will be implemented from June 2026, expanding SOCSO coverage beyond work-related accidents. Under this scheme, employees will also be protected against accidents occurring outside working hours, outside the workplace, and while not performing work duties.
Contributions will be fully paid by employees and introduced in stages: 0.75% of salary for the first two years, 1.00% for Years 3–5, and 1.25% from Year 6 onwards.
The minimum monthly contribution is RM12.35, while the maximum is RM45 for employees earning RM6,000 and above.
Ordinary illnesses (non-accident related) and accidents occurring overseas are not covered under this scheme.
Diesel Subsidy Extended to Commercial Jeeps & Pickup Trucks
Effective 1 June 2026, the government has expanded the Diesel Subsidy Control System (SKDS) to include jeeps and pickup trucks used for land freight transportation.
To qualify, the vehicle must be registered under a company and used for commercial freight activities.
Individual operators must first register their business with SSM, SKM, or the relevant Sabah/Sarawak business registration authorities.
Approved vehicles may receive 900 to 5,000 litres of subsidised diesel per month. Existing businesses may also apply for additional quota through KPDN.
STR Phase 3 Application & Appeal Deadline
The deadline for new applications and appeals for Phase 3 of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) is 15 June 2026.
Eligible applicants who have not yet applied or wish to appeal must do so before the deadline.
Applications submitted after 15 June 2026 will only be considered for Phase 4 payments.
STR 2026 is distributed in four phases: January, March, August (Phase 3), and October (Phase 4).
Households and senior citizens with monthly income of RM5,000 and below may be eligible to apply.
New Malaysian International Passport Rollout
The new Malaysian international passport will be introduced in phases starting 1 June 2026, with the first rollout at four locations: Putrajaya HQ, Jalan Duta, Wangsa Maju, and Shah Alam Immigration Offices. It is expected to be expanded nationwide by end of July 2026.
Existing passports remain valid until expiry, and replacement is not required immediately.
The new passport includes 94 security features, including UV printing, holograms, hidden elements, and enhanced anti-counterfeit design.
New Generation MyKad Launch
The National Registration Department (JPN) will introduce the new MyKad in June 2026, but replacement is not compulsory.
The upgraded card comes with 53 security features, including QR code, dual-interface function, laser engraving, UV elements, holograms, anti-counterfeit patterns, microtext, and contactless reading capabilities.
The design is also updated, with the photo moved to the left side and the chip relocated to the back.
New versions of MyPR, MyTentera, and MyPOCA will also be introduced, while MyKid remains unchanged.
Existing MyKad remains valid until expiry, and holders may choose whether to replace it.
