Following the Cabinet meeting held on 8 July 2026, the Malaysian Government announced that the PERKESO (SOCSO) LINDUNG 24 JAM scheme will no longer be mandatory and will instead be implemented on a voluntary basis with immediate effect.
Employees are no longer required to contribute 0.75% of their wages to participate in the scheme, and participation will now be based on individual choice.

What is LINDUNG 24 JAM?
LINDUNG 24 JAM is a 24-hour non-work-related accident protection scheme introduced by PERKESO to provide additional coverage for employees who suffer accidents outside of working hours, including:
- Road accidents
- Injuries from falls at home
- Recreational and sports-related accidents
- Accidents occurring during holidays or personal travel
Under the original implementation, eligible employees were automatically enrolled and required to contribute towards the scheme.|
Latest Update: Participation Becomes Voluntary
Under the latest Cabinet decision:
- Participation in LINDUNG 24 JAM is now voluntary
- Employees are no longer required to contribute 0.75% of their wages
- Employees may decide whether to continue participating
- Employers are no longer required to make mandatory deductions for the scheme
