2027 Belanjawan Key Highlights

Malaysia Budget 2027 (Belanjawan 2027), announced on 9 October 2026, introduces a wide range of measures covering personal income tax, corporate taxation, SME financing, minimum wages, financial assistance, education, healthcare, property, infrastructure and green technology.

The Budget aims to address the rising cost of living, strengthen business competitiveness, support economic growth and encourage sustainable development.

Core Objectives of the 2027 Budget

The Malaysia Budget 2027 focuses on:

  • Accelerating economic transformation and high-value industries by promoting growth in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, and the digital economy;
  • Easing the cost of living and improving citizens’ well-being through tax relief, STR and SARA assistance, wage reforms, and increased healthcare and education allocations;
  • Strengthening fiscal discipline and sustainable development by gradually reducing the fiscal deficit while maintaining investments in national infrastructure and economic growth;
  • Boosting business growth and investor confidence through SME financing, tax incentives, and strategic initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) to attract domestic and foreign investments.

Despite ongoing global economic uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, and fluctuations in international oil prices, Malaysia’s GDP is projected to grow between 4.2% and 5.2% in 2027, with the fiscal deficit targeted to decline to 3.3% of GDP, and a further reduction to 3% by 2029.
