In line with efforts to strengthen economic resilience, enhance public well-being, and improve governance, the Government has introduced a series of new policies for 2026. STR Cash Aid (Phase 1)
The first phase of STR cash assistance will be disbursed on 20 January, with eligible recipients receiving up to RM500.
SARA Monthly Assistance
Eligible recipients will receive RM200 per month, starting 9 January.
SARA One-Off Assistance
A one-off assistance of RM100 will be distributed on 9 February.
Rahmah (MADANI) Sales Programme
Starting 9 January, Rahmah Sales will be conducted three times per month in every state and parliamentary constituency, offering essential goods at affordable prices.
Prime Minister Term Limit
The Prime Minister’s tenure will be limited to a maximum of 10 years or two terms.
Separation of Powers
The advisory role of the Attorney General will be separated from the functions of the Public Prosecutor.
Freedom of Information Act
A Freedom of Information Act will be introduced to enhance public access to government information.
Establishment of an Ombudsman Office
An independent Ombudsman Office will be established to strengthen public sector accountability.
E-Invoicing Transition Extension
The e-invoicing implementation transition period will be extended by one year, allowing businesses more time to prepare.
Rental Service Tax Exemption
SMEs and micro-enterprises with annual revenue below RM1.5 million are exempted from rental service tax.
Rental Service Tax Deferral for New SMEs
Newly established SMEs will be granted a one-year moratorium on rental service tax enforcement.
Rental Service Tax Rate Reduction
The rental service tax rate will be reduced from 8% to 6%.
Accelerated Tax Refunds
The Government commits to completing all outstanding tax refunds by the first quarter of 2026.
Funding for Chinese Primary Schools
Government allocation for Chinese primary schools will increase from RM50 million to RM80 million.
Back-to-School Assistance
Students from Primary 1 to Form 6 will receive RM150 as back-to-school assistance.
